About: As pretty as this picture looks it used to hide a very nasty menace known as 'The Blandford Fly' a biting insect which caused several fatalities in the past. In more recent years the weed beds in the river have been sprayed to stop it breeding

About: When we arrived at Bridehead Lake there was no sign of its duck occupants. As shown in another of our photographs it did not take long for them to spot us and come hurrying along hopeful of a titbit or two.
