About: The ruins of St Andrew's Church are sited halfway down the cliff-side above Church Ope Cove. it was the parish church of the island until the midle of the 18th century. It was built in stages between 1150 and 1470 when the tower was added.A landslip......

About: From this position it is just possible to make out some of the features of this ancient site. Maiden Castle is the largest Iron Age hill fort in Europe. The name Maiden is believed to derive from the Celtic for great hill, mai dun.
