About: Next door to the church is a Damer's great mansion which was buil in 1774 and desgned by Sir William Chambers in a strange gothic style apparently to imitate the church.

About: Milton Abbey was originally founded in 923-39 by King Athelstan but this was destroyed in a great fire in 1309. What we see today is a 14th and 15th century chancel, tower and transepts. Apparently the eastern chapels were demolished and the nave was......

About: In this older part of the town stands the Lock Up which was used between 1760 and 1880 and looks a pretty dismal place. In the past Gillingham was the centre of a royal hunting forest of which nothing now remains.

About: An unusual photograph taken from under Bournemouth pier. Two extensions to this pier in 1894 and 1909 respectively, made the pier's overall length to more than 1000ft.
