About Eype Dorset.
Eype is a very pretty village with thatched cottages and beautiful country gardens. Its nearest neighbour of any size is Bridport an historic market town.
The name Eype actually means 'steep place', this choice of name is obvious when visiting Eype as access is down a steep valley with narrow leafy lanes. There is a beach at Lower Eype and as it is part of the Jurassic coast it is very possible to find fossils but fishing and swimming are also popular. The cliffs are sandstone above Jurassic clay and to the west is the towering Thorncombe Beacon at 508 feet.
Parking is close to the beach and the coastal paths afford some excellent walking and scenery.
