About: Church Ope Cove was once a famous smuggling beach. It is sited on the East side of Portland and is an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

About: The ruins of St Andrew's Church are sited halfway down the cliff-side above Church Ope Cove. it was the parish church of the island until the midle of the 18th century. It was built in stages between 1150 and 1470 when the tower was added.A landslip......

About: The steep descent to Church Ope Cove could deter some peolple but beach huts here are much sought after. In the winter of 2003 one of the bigger huts was up for sale at £30,000.
