About: This duck pond is about 75 yards across and it is rumoured to be Roman in origin. Apparently this pond rarely dries out and tradition has it that cakes are eaten in its bed whenever it does.

About: Ashmore is a small village in north east Dorset five miles south east of Shaftesbury. The village is largely unspoilt with buildings dating from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.

About: Ashmore is situated right on the borders with Wiltshire, and is one of the highest villages in Dorset. It stands about seven hundred feet above sea level. The Roman road from Badbury Rings to Bath passes right through the village.

About: This grey Heron is apparently a regular visitor to the duck pond at Ashmore. We were told that it feeds on the fish in the pond and the regular occupants of the pool did not seem to mind the unusual visitor sitting beside the water looking for its ne......

About: One side of the pond at Ashmore was covered in a bright red algae or something when we visited. This unusual photograph looks more like abstract art not objects floating in the water. The pond at Ashmore is 75 yards across and it has been suggested ......
