About: The Red Lion at Gillingham is in the High Street and facilities include real ale, food, TV, a pool table, dartboard and fruit machines. There is outside seating with dogs and children both allowed in the Inn.

About: The splendid trees give an impressive backdrop to the memorial at Gillingham but it does seem to be in need of some cleaning as it is not possible to read the inscriptions. Town Bridge in the centre of the town was sketched by John constable in 1820 ......

About: Gillingham is a somewhat disjointed town off the B3092 nearly on the border with Somerset. In the past Gillingham was an important silk milling and brick-making town. Unfortunately the best of the old silk mills burnt down a few years ago

About: In this older part of the town stands the Lock Up which was used between 1760 and 1880 and looks a pretty dismal place. In the past Gillingham was the centre of a royal hunting forest of which nothing now remains.
