Place: Church Ope Cove
About: Church Ope Cove was once a famous smuggling beach. It is sited on the East side of Portland and is an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
There is a free car park on the right, opposite Pennsylvania Castle just outside of Easton heading towards the Bill. Access to the Cove is either down the public footpath next to Pennsylvania castle or via Portland museum . It is a steep path with a lot of steps. the path beside the castle goes through the old church of St Andrews and the graveyard, this path can be quite slippery at times.
