About: The splendid trees give an impressive backdrop to the memorial at Gillingham but it does seem to be in need of some cleaning as it is not possible to read the inscriptions. Town Bridge in the centre of the town was sketched by John constable in 1820 and the finished work hangs in the Tate Gallery. Today the bridge has a plague to commemorate this but the bridge itself is no longer photogenic.
