About: One amazing story we have read about the Abey concerns John Tregonwell whose father owned the house at the time. When he was 5 he fell 60 feet from the top of the church tower. At the time the young boys still wore petticoats and as he fell this acted as a parachute enabling him to survive unharmed. John went on to lead a very full life not dying until 1680 at the age of 82
